Ready for the new year? Here is a line up of what to expect in dramas starting in the next week.
Short recap: What’s on offer? A dramatic three-part series based on Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky novel; another tearjearker dramatic story for Sato Takeru; a life-after-prison tale; as well as another dark story penned by the wonder Minato Kanae (Confessions, Kyogu, Koko Nyushi); also on the list is a comedy, with the over-used plot, manga character comes to life; and the drama continuation of the film Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken.

Synopsis: Kurosawa Buzo , a greedy and violent father, is murdered in his own home. His 3 sons: oldest son Mitsuru (Saito Takumi), second son Isao (Ichihara Hayato) and youngest son Ryo (Hayashi Kento) are all suspected of murder.
Born to his first wife, Mitsuru inherits his father’s talent of womanizing. Out of work, but with the dream of owning a bar Mitsuru resides at his long-suffering girlfriend’s house. Abused by his father and outcaste because of his mother Mitsuru has a long-time feud with his father, wherein his father likes to humiliate his oldest son. Can he be the murder?
Second son Isao graduated from college and now works as a lawyer in Tokyo, but his life was chosen for him. Scared of his father, the man he hates, Isao is then forced to work for him, which makes Isao question the black and white world he lives in. With a seed of deep hated for his father growing inside Isao could he be the murder?
The youngest, Ryo, is the baby and most loved son. Still at college and studying to be a doctor, he is kind-hearted individual who only sees the good with a bleeding heart. But when faced with the reality and injustice that the ‘good’ dies while the ‘bad’ lives will he take judgement into his own hands and commit murder?

Synopsis: Ichikawa Yauso (Uchino Masaki), who goes by the nickname Yasu, is a ‘dumb’ man. When Akira was 3 his mother died in a tragedy, and although overcome with guilt and sorrow, Yasu ‘maned-up’ to raise his beloved son with the help of friends….

Synopsis: Behind every household door are skeletons, and secrets.
Housewife Endo Mayumi (Suzuk Koyaka) worked hard for her dream to move into an upscale exclusive neighbourhood with her family. But the dream in crushed when her daughter, who has failed her high school exams, becomes violent towards her own mother and her husband develops a social phobia, refusing to come home. She is also bullied by the wife of the neighbourhood council president, Kojima.
Living opposite the Endo’s are the Takahashi’s; a picture perfect household of five and a family of high achievers. The husband is a big-shot director at a hospital, his wife a doted housewife and beauty. Their daughter Hinako attends an elite private school, the one Mayumi’s daughter failed to get into, and their second son, the athletic Shinji (Nakagawa Taishi) excels in sports. Also, Yoshiyuki (Yasuda Shota) their eldest lives in Kansai, and is a student at medical college.
The stories (and secrets) of the three families: the Endos, Kojimas and Takahashis begin to be told when the unthinkable happens and Mr Takahashi is murdered. Suspecting the murderer as someone close, the police investigate the families….

Synopsis: Hara-chan (Nagase Tomoya) is a deadbeat drunk that is vexed daily about his life. Hara-chan, however isn’t real but a character in a manga. Then one day he escapes into the “real” world, leaving behind his manga world. In this reality Hara-chan is in love with Echizen-san (Aso Kumiko) the illustrator of his manga, which uses the manga as her outlet of pent-up resentment towards the world.
